1. Do you need a pet passport?
- From the UK, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man: You can bring your pet without a pet passport, except for banned breeds such as dangerous dogs, hybrid cats, or dogs descended from endangered species.
- From outside the UK: A valid pet passport is required, along with compliance with additional import regulations.

2. How to transport your pet to Guernsey
By Sea
- Brittany Ferries: Pets can travel by foot or car between Guernsey, Jersey, UK and France (France route requires car travel)
- The Pet Bus: A specialist pet transport service from the UK to Guernsey for dogs, cats, and small animals
By Air
- Aurigny: Dogs (8+ weeks) can travel in the hold on the first flight of the day between Southampton and Guernsey
- Blue Islands: Pets can travel in the hold on select routes including Guernsey - Southampton and Jersey - Guernsey

3. Register with a local vet
Once you arrive, register your pet with a local veterinary practice.

4. Microchip your pet
Microchipping is strongly recommended. It helps local vets and animal charities reunite lost pets with their owners. Be sure to update your contact details on the microchip database after moving.
5. Dog Tax
All dog owners must pay an annual dog licence fee of £10 per dog, due by 31 January each year. This applies to dogs over 6 months old, except for assistance dogs.
