“Life in Hong Kong became very difficult and uncertain. We decided there was no future for us there and started looking elsewhere. Our check-list included such things as personal safety, quality of life, ease of access, the ability to settle permanently, a reliable civic infrastructure and an open and welcoming local population. Not many places can tick all those boxes, so Guernsey scored very high marks on our list of possible destinations”

“From our previous visit we were aware of some of Guernsey's quirks; the extremely narrow roads, the unreliability of inter-island transport at certain times of the year, the higher cost of living etc. What we weren't expecting were the many hidden delights one finds on such a small island. Substantial retail shops tucked away in obscure country lanes, interesting and unusual local businesses, restaurants in unexpected and out-of-the-way places. We keep discovering such things.”

"My wife and I had a number of options available to us when we were looking to settle in a new home country. Having made 9 international moves in the past 25 years we had a pretty good sense of what was important to us when looking for a “forever home”. Most important to us was the feeling of open spaces while still being close to a town centre and good restaurants. Guernsey certainly allows for all of these and much more.

The many beautiful beaches and hiking trails are a great way to explore the island. For our family, membership to the golf course has been a very good way to meet people and form a community.

Guernsey also checked all the boxes in that it is close to our grown-up children in the UK, encourages an active outdoor lifestyle and has an open and friendly community who have warmly welcomed us."
